Atlanta Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park

The annual Dogwood Festival in Atlanta is at the Piedmont Park, across the street from where we live now.  The festival is named Dogwood for the type of tree that the park has several of.  There were lots of art exhibits, food booths, and as you can see from the background:  lots of live music and carnival rides too!

American Cancer Society - Relay for Life event - Emory University - Deloitte Team!

Karin and I participated in the American Cancer Society - Relay for Life at Emory University last Friday.  Deloitte was a sponsor for the event and it was great to get outdoors for a good cause and to meet some new friends in Atlanta.

Cafe Jonah and the Magical Attic

Such a cute place in Atlanta to have brunch!  Cafe Jonah and the Magical Attic.  Quirky, unique, with delicious food!.  The upstairs there is this new age store, tarot card readings and stuff, it's a cool place in Buckhead visit.

Deloitte Basketball League

Karin and I joined the Deloitte Basketball League for the Atlanta office.  Our team name is "Inyaface" and we're off to a fast 4 - 0 start. It's been really awesome to have a fun activity every Saturday morning and plus to make new friends from Deloitte.

Halo Halo!

Of all of the restaurants, Karin and I have been in Atlanta we actually have never to a Filipino food restaurant yet.  We found one called the Fil-Am Cafe and went to check it out.  The food was good, especially the Halo Halo dessert. Halo Halo is a mix of shaved ice, evaporated milk, and various fruits and sweet beans.  Often seen with coconut, plantains, and jackfruit it's super tasty.  Mmmm....

Brunch at the Chattahoochee River

Karin and I have a new favorite brunch place in Atlanta called "Canoe."  The food was delicious and the scenery was amazing near the Chattahoochee River.  One thing we didn't really have in Southern California was rivers and the Chattahoochee is an awesome one.  When we get our first visitor to Atlanta, we're definitely taking them here.

Albert's Birthday & roadtrip to Savannah

For Albert's birthday this year I made a special dinner and marble cake for dessert!  We had a great evening together at home, and then took our first road trip, to Savannah, the weekend after.
Savannah was beautiful with so many historic sites and delicious food, particularly at Paula Deen's restaurant, The Lady & Sons.

Happy Birthday, Albert!

Outside The Lady & Sons in Savannah

Huge portions at Paula Deen's, of course!!

One of the many city squares in Savannah

We had dinner at The Old Pink House, which, as the name suggests, was an old pink house converted into a restaurant!

Mmmm... dessert!
Sunday morning we had breakfast at the adorable Goose Feathers Cafe

In the beautiful and historic Forsyth Park
As a former Girl Scout, we had to stop by the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts!!
All in all, it was a great birthday week and we can't wait to take more road trips to other cities around Atlanta!
